Quantify strength through every degree of shoulder motion, not just the easy positions.

    Movement Analysis

Frame-by-frame breakdown of how your upper body actually moves under load.

    Objective Data

Numbers and reports you can act on, not opinions or guesses.

    Written Reports

Take-home documentation you can share with coaches, surgeons, or athletic trainers.

Salt Lake City Testing & Analysis

    Stop guessing. Start measuring.

Testing and analysis is the objective evaluation of how strong your upper extremity is and how well it moves. At TKM Labs in Salt Lake City, we replace subjective tests with repeatable measurements that don't change based on who's holding the dynamometer.

Whether you want a baseline, a return-to-activity clearance, or a second opinion on where your arm really stands, our Doctors of Physical Therapy use the Humero Tech C1® to give you data you and your providers can actually trust.

    What We Test

Objective measurement of the entire upper extremity.

From full-motion strength curves to detailed movement analysis, every test is repeatable, comparable, and built to inform your next decision.

    Full-Motion Strength Profiling

Most strength tests measure one or two positions. The Humero Tech C1® lets us measure force production through the entire arc of motion at the shoulder so we can find weak links no handheld dynamometer will ever catch.

    • Rotator cuff strength curves through full range
    • Internal vs external rotation ratios at multiple angles
    • Scapular plane abduction and elevation strength
    • Elbow flexion, extension, and forearm rotation profiling
    • Side-to-side symmetry comparison reports

Upper Extremity Movement & Biomechanical Assessment

We evaluate how your shoulder actually moves during the tasks that matter, whether that's a throw, a press, a pull, or a daily reach. Mechanics drive load, and load drives injury.

    • Scapulohumeral rhythm and shoulder mechanics
    • Throwing, pressing, and overhead pattern analysis
    • Compensatory movement and asymmetry detection
    • Joint-by-joint mobility and stability screen
    • Postural and thoracic spine contribution to arm motion

    Baseline & Pre-Participation Screens

Establish a healthy baseline so that if something goes wrong later, we have real numbers to compare against, instead of guessing what your normal looked like.

    • Pre-season athlete screens
    • Pre-surgical baseline data when surgery is planned
    • Annual strength and mobility check-ins
    • Tactical and occupational baseline testing
    • Workload tolerance benchmarks

    Return to Activity Readiness Testing

Whether you're returning from surgery, an overuse injury, or a season off, we use objective criteria, not the calendar, to confirm you're ready.

    • Post-surgical clearance testing
    • Return to throwing and overhead readiness
    • Strength symmetry and endurance benchmarks
    • Sport- or task-specific load tolerance testing
    • Re-test schedules to track progression

    Progress Tracking & Re-Testing

Rehab and training only work if you can prove they're working. We re-test on a defined schedule to confirm progress and adjust the plan when the numbers stall.

    • Standardized re-test intervals
    • Trend reports across weeks and months
    • Automatic comparison to your own baseline
    • Goal-based milestone tracking
    • Coach and provider-friendly summaries

    Second-Opinion Testing

Already in care somewhere else and not sure where you really stand? Come in for objective testing and get a clear, data-driven picture of your arm.

    • Independent strength and motion assessment
    • Clarity on readiness for return to sport or work
    • Identify deficits not captured in standard testing
    • Written report you can share with your provider
    • No long-term commitment required

    Who It's For

    Who benefits from objective testing?

If a decision about your shoulder is on the table, you should have data to back it up.

    • Post-surgical patients needing objective clearance
    • Athletes wanting a pre-season or off-season baseline
    • Overhead athletes managing recurring arm pain
    • Patients seeking a second opinion on readiness
    • Tactical and occupational workers with overhead demands
    • Anyone tired of vague answers about their arm

    Why Data-Driven Care

Why subjective testing misses too much.

Manual muscle tests and feel-based assessments depend on who is doing them. Objective testing removes the noise and gives you numbers that are the same today, next month, and a year from now.

    • Same numbers no matter who tests you
    • End-range deficits a handheld test can't detect
    • Side-to-side comparison you can actually trust
    • Trend data over weeks and months, not just snapshots
    • Clear thresholds for return to activity
    • Reports you can share with surgeons and coaches

    Powered by Humero Tech C1®

The testing platform built for this work.

Full-motion strength profiling and biomechanical assessment require a tool that can isolate and load the upper extremity in every direction. The Humero Tech C1®, designed as the next step in objective measurement, captures force production through the full arc of shoulder motion, giving us a level of detail no handheld dynamometer or generic dynamometry station can match.

    • Full-arc strength curves, not single-angle snapshots
    • Repeatable, examiner-independent measurements
    • Direct integration with movement and biomechanical assessment
    • The only device of its kind in Utah
    Timing Matters

    When should you get tested?

The best time to get tested is before you need the data. The second best time is right now.

Before a season or training block

Capture a healthy baseline so future tests have something to compare against.

    Before a planned surgery

Pre-surgical numbers make post-surgical clearance far more meaningful.

After plateauing in rehab or training

Objective testing pinpoints why progress stalled and what to change.

Before returning to sport or work

Confirm with data that the arm is actually ready, not just less painful.
